Answers to the various questions that have come up recently.
Q: Do I need to sign up again here on the website if I already signed up through one of the previous email questionnaires?
A: No, if you have already signed up to be on the roster or signed up for the Summer 2025 Season through the email links I have your information and you are good already. If you did sign up again, no worries, I monitor for duplicates.
Q: How do I know if you got my roster sign up?
A: Every few days I go through and add the new players who have signed up and send them a confirmation email. If you signed up in the last day you should see an email in the next day or two.
Q: How do I verify that I registered for a season and submit payment?
A: Once we have established deadlines for a specific season (payment start date, sign up deadline, payment deadline, etc.) I will send an email to the full roster to let everyone know to watch for a payment email. If you think you signed up for the season but don't see the payment email on the payment start date then feel free to reach out and confirm that you are signed up. As for payment, the details will be in the email.
Q: Will there be an announcement email for games and seasons?
A: I will try to limit the number of emails that get sent out once we finish getting the ball rolling. That being said, I will send an email to the entire roster when a new season sign up is posted and again when the schedule is posted, if not already established prior to the sign up going live. Once the teams have been divided and assigned an email will go out to just those signed up for the specific season.
Q: Can I still sign up to play if I'm going to be missing some of the games?
A: I have no problem with people signing up and needing to miss a few games. Unfortunately I won't be able to decrease the fee though. We are trying to keep the fee reasonably low to begin with and ultimately the ice time needs to be paid for no matter how many players show up.
Q: Can myself and my spouse/sibling/friend share a fee if I play half of the games and they play half of the games?
A: For this first season we're not going to let people share a fee. I know on the front end it seems pretty simple, but there are a lot of moving pieces in getting this whole league worked out, and that just adds one more element. It makes it difficult to appropriately balance teams if the two players are widely different skill levels. There's also a concern that if we allowed this, that two people might try to share a fee and both show up to the same game hoping that someone doesn't notice, which then becomes unfair to everyone else. We may re-address this one in a future season.
Q: Can I play if I've never played hockey before?
A: I'm not going to tell anyone no. By all means, most of us here are fairly new as well. That being said, if you are brand new and you've never picked up a stick before or have never been skating you probably won't have a very good time jumping right in to a league, so I would start with the basics. Several local venues offer skating and hockey classes. I would also start going to an open stick time before committing to playing in a league, they are a great place to ask questions, learn, and socialize with other players. Before you know it you'll be up to speed and feel comfortable joining.
